Sounds, instruments and sample selection

When using the Live Loops feature within GarageBand, ask learners to choose a sample from a menu of pre-set genres (e.g. EMD, Hip-Hop, Dubstep) and discuss how this reflects their intention. Learners can further edit specific samples from within these templates and also add new samples from the Apple Loops menu.

When using the sequencer in GarageBand, ask learners to select loops, samples and instruments that reflect their intention.

Encourage learners to choose either pitched instruments (keyboard, strings, bass, guitar, erhu etc.) or unpitched instruments (acoustic or electronic drum kits) from the GarageBand menu, and explore the sounds that each creates.
