On Tuesday 18th March, the Department for Education announced the development of a National Centre for Arts and Music Education, coming into effect from 2026. This Big Meet is for our Members to explore what this might mean for everyone working across the Music Education ecology.

Whilst there is limited information available currently about what this Centre will do or who will run it (there will be an open tender process in due course to appoint an organisation or consortium), Music Mark feel it is important to consider what the Centre’s role will be. We are suggesting that the sector should help shape that to ensure it can achieve the best outcomes for children and young people’s access to and participation in music education.

The meeting is also likely to reflect on how this new Centre sits alongside the current reviews linked to Curriculum, Assessment and Inspection.

This meeting is open to all Music Mark Members, Schools and Industry Partners.
