Conducting Workshop

  • 27th - 28th September 2024
  • Friday 6-9.30pm and Saturday 9am-3pm
  • Wycombe High School, High Wycombe, HP11 1TB

A concise conducting course to develop knowledge and practical application of conducting. Delivered at Chiltern Muisc Academy, the course supports delegates as they conduct live ensembles of different sizes and genres including a full Orchestra and Concert Band. The course director is Chris I’Anson.

Including taught modules and some discussion, the main focus of the course is the practical experience of conducting live musicians. It includes supervised conducting in a friendly and constructive learning environment. Conductors can elect which groups to conduct and which to observe, and will receive personal feedback with video.

Chris I’Anson is a Director of Music for the Royal Air Force and has over 25 years of experience conducting ensembles, bands and orchestras of all levels: from young musicians in their first week of learning an instrument through to massed bands of professional players in concert halls throughout the world. He is passionate about conducting and keen to help others get the very best out of the musicians they have the privilege to conduct.
