Join us for an online session with flautist, educator and ABRSM Chief Examiner Zoe Booth to explore examining as part of a portfolio career in music. Zoe and ABRSM Deputy Head of Engagement James Welburn will discuss the role of the examiner and how ABRSM assesses musical performance across its portfolio of face-to-face and digital exams. Zoe will also share her experiences as a musician and educator with a portfolio career and how examining fits in. There’ll be time for interactive discussion at the end so come ready with your questions!

About Zoe:

Zoë Booth enjoys a varied musical career, including her work as a Chief Examiner at ABRSM. As a flute teacher her aim is to inspire self-improvement at every ability level and age. She established the Flutes at the Barns series of residential flute courses for adults in 2003, which has now celebrated over seventy courses, along with numerous day events and hundreds of online classes. She has also been a lead and collaborator on related projects, including – for ABRSM – her work as a presenter and trainer of new examiners.

Since her scholarship to the RNCM, Zoë’s performing life has embraced many musical styles, from a flutes and percussion partnership, participation in art installation projects through to performances with her recital piano accompanist and orchestral playing. As a writer, Zoë’s music publications were first released in 2006; currently two of her pieces for beginners feature on graded flute syllabuses.
