Inclusive Practitioner Training: Musical Development & Disability

A practical and discussion-based session exploring the different ways that musical development can take place when working with young people with physical impairments, sensory impairments, learning difficulties, learning disabilities and how to support this in varied settings.

From attending this training session, participants will get the opportunity to:

  • Network with other teachers, practitioners, music leaders and community musicians from across the sector
  • Engage with case studies submitted by experienced facilitators, music therapists and tutors.
  • Learn about the different types of disabilities/impairments that participants may encounter in varied settings.
  • Discover practical ways of supporting young people with SEN/D in specialist and mainstream settings.
  • Learn the emotional, physical, and cognitive benefits of bringing music making activities into mainstream and SEN/D specialist settings.
  • Explore assistive music technology and adapted musical instruments with the aim to engage all young people within music making sessions.
  • Receive an attendance certificate.
