This session introduces a modern, teacher-led model for Whole-Class Instrument Teaching (WCIT), providing practical strategies to enhance inclusivity, engagement, and sustainability in music education. Building on a successful pilot at North Worcester Primary Academy, it demonstrates how accessible tools, such as joystick controllers and colour-coded notation, empower non-specialist teachers to create lively, inclusive lessons that minimise travel costs and environmental impact.

This event is designed for music services interested in accessibility, scalability, and sustainability. It’s also ideal for mainstream primary educators and non-specialist teachers looking to incorporate music technology into their classrooms, ensuring that every student— including those with SEND and EAL—has the opportunity to engage.

Aims and Objectives:

  • Showcase Practical Resources: Explore ready-to-use lesson plans, video-led guidance, and CPD materials for immediate classroom implementation.
  • Foster Inclusivity: Discover how to engage SEND and EAL learners alongside mainstream students within a single, cohesive setting.
  • Support ACE Priorities: Learn how data tracking and self-delivery models align with Investment Principles, from Inclusivity and Relevance to Environmental Responsibility.

All participants receive a copy of our Swipe app (including SEND-specific content, BBC Ten Pieces Inclusive Resources, and two sample lessons from our 10-week WCIT Music Tech Unit). They will leave equipped to adopt and adapt this flexible WCIT approach in their schools or hubs, leading to more confident teachers, higher student engagement, and measurable progress towards ACE objectives.
