Are you a skilled musician with little to no teaching experience, and an interest in using your musical training to have a tangible impact? The Hertfordshire Music Service (HMS) Career Accelerator Pathway is a 3 academic term programme offering 2 unique opportunities to engage in on-the-job training.

Educator Pathway:

  • Ideal for those passionate about a full-time or part-time teaching career.
  • Comprehensive training with over 50 hours of in-person sessions.
  • Regular support with over 7 hours of time with a mentor.
  • Supported shadowing and student recruitment activities.
  • Support in developing the range of skills needed to be a highly effective instrumental/vocal teacher.
  • Successful completion of the 3 academic term programme will result in pay progression.

Portfolio Pathway:

  • Tailored for musicians balancing a performance career with teaching.
  • Comprehensive training with over 30 hours of in-person sessions.
  • Regular support with over 4 hours of time with a mentor.
  • Supported shadowing and student recruitment activities.
  • Support and guidance on effectively balancing teaching and performance commitments.
  • Successful completion of the 3 academic term programme will result in pay progression.
