Hull Music Service teaches over 6000 children and young people in schools and colleges across the City. At its home – The Albemarle Music Centre (next to Hull Truck on Ferensway) the Music Service also provides a comprehensive range of groups, choirs, ensembles, band and orchestras. The Albemarle also hosts a range of additional workshops and opportunities for schools, that are tailored to complement, enrich and contribute to the wider school curriculum.

In North East Lincolnshire, increased engagement with schools is leading to additional teaching capacity being required. From its base at the Grimsby Institute for Further Education (GIFE) our North-East Lincolnshire Music Centre is now well established, opening up further teaching and ensemble leadership opportunities.

Through an increasing network of partnerships, Hull Music Service is engaging with schools and the wider community through a variety of projects, from singing to song-writing, composition to urban music as well as Live Music for Schools and large showcase events in the City’s premier venues such as the Middleton Hall, Hull Minster, City Hall and Connexin Live Arena.

The Service is committed to supporting our most vulnerable young people, including supporting Children with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) and Hull’s Looked After Children, by forging closer links with schools, key community organisations and specialist providers. This work will ensure that access to music opportunities in Hull is both equitable and relevant to the needs of the children and young people across the city.
