Learn to Play returns with Music for All
9th June 2021
The charity Music for All is pleased to announce the return of Learn to Play on 25 and 26 September 2021. Postponed in 2020 and moved from its usual March date due to the pandemic, Learn to Play ’21 will return as both a physical and online event.
Aimed at new and lapsed music makers, the event offers free 10–15 minute music lessons at local venues. These taster lessons inspire and motivate potential and inactive musicians to start or restart their musical journey and learn more about the music services in their area.
Held at a variety of venues across the UK, in March 2019 over 10,000 free lessons were given across over 100 venues. Participating venues included music stores, colleges and centres, performance venues, rehearsal studios and community centres. Each venue uses their collective skills to provide free ‘taster’ music lessons so participants can experience the joy of making music and discover more about local musical support.
With the support of several partners, Music for All organises the event and provides venues with promotional material, marketing, and PR support, plus guidance and tips on the best way to achieve a successful event. For the venues, Learn to Play brings new music makers into their world and forges new connections within their community.
This year Learn to Play ’21 will also be supported by an online broadcast, highlighting and sharing venue experiences alongside Learn to Play tips and guidance from experienced musicians. Find out more.
