Noise from the Next Generation – Nottingham Music Hub’s Competition Returns
3rd February 2016
Noise from the Next Generation, organised by Nottingham Music Hub, gives opportunities to young people, aged 11-19 to show off their talent at fantastic Nottingham City venues, receive constructive feedback from a panel of judges selected from the local music scene and compete for some fantastic prizes. Prizes have previously included a Nusic Future Session, a recording session at Confetti’s Electric Mayhem Studio, Artist Management with YMCA Digital, a gig at the Young Creative Awards Ceremony, automatic entry into Nusic’s Future Sound of Nottingham Semi Final, a performance slot at the Young Creative Awards and an article with Left Lion.
This year all entrants must compose and perform a piece inspired by the Young Creative Awards theme ‘Goals and Dreams’, allowing automatic entry into a second award where additional cash prizes can also be won.
There are 3 stages to the competition: entrants will perform at The Heats where entries will be assessed on their musical ability, and selected acts will then progress through to the Workshop where bands and artists will be given the opportunity to receive tuition and support on developing their performance, leading to The Final at Rock City or Sobar.
Matt Murphy, a judge at last year’s final said “These are the best bands you don’t know about yet”.
Noise from the Next Generation will be running two age categories, 13-15 and 16-19, though entrants are allowed from ages 11-19 – full details are on the Nottingham Music Hub website www.nottinghammusichub.org.uk along with entry forms.
Any bands or artists interested in entering the competition should do so by 9am Thursday 1st March.
