THE MUSICIANS’ COMPANY: THE MORTIMER MEDAL

Each year The Worshipful Company of Musicians awards its Mortimer Medal to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the UK brass band tradition by teaching young people to play brass band instruments and by fostering their participation in youth brass bands. The Mortimer Medal was established in 1995 and named after Harry Mortimer who was a Liveryman of the Company.
The Company is inviting leaders of Music Hubs and Services throughout the UK to nominate someone who is demonstrating exceptional work in this field either within the hub or music service or within the voluntary sector.
Any nominations will be considered by the Company’s Donations & Awards Committee in March. The award of the medal will be made in April. The person receiving the award will be invited to receive the medal at the British Open Brass Band Championships in Birmingham in September. He or she will also be invited to attend the Company’s Installation Banquet in London in November.

The nomination should include a short biographical note on the person nominated, highlighting particular contributions to education in the Brass Band sector that the nominee feels makes them worthy of the award.
Nominations should be submitted by 29th February 2020.
