Learning Resources Area
Added to website 15/10/2024.
A range of resources designed to encourage creativity and support delivery of the Model Music Curriculum in schools. These free, downloadable materials offer simple yet effective pathways into jazz and improvisation with an initial focus on Key Stages 1 & 2 and for First Access instrumentalists.
For ease of navigation the resources area is split into 6 sections – Instrumental, Vocal & Singing, Aural & Listening, Model Music Curriculum, Lifetime Learners and Jazz North recommends (signposting existing jazz resources from other providers).
There are comprehensive active listening projects for Key Stage 1 – Mr. Big and Key Stage 2 – Milestones and no prior knowledge of jazz or improvisation is necessary for the delivering teacher. Jazz North believe that jazz skills are just good musicianship skills and wants to encourage more teachers and students to engage with the genre.
